The fondest memories of my childhood were at Redwater Lake. Our “lake house” was really a very old and run down mobile home that didn’t have electricity or running water for the first few years we had it. We would go there with my mom, grandfather, aunt, uncle, and cousins almost every weekend of every summer until I was in my mid teens. It was crazy hot, the mosquitoes and bugs were everywhere, and it was hard work to keep it maintained, but it was always fun. We would swim and fish in the lake, swing on our rope swing, make s’mores by the fire, learn to play poker, tell scary stories, and play hide and seek in the pitch dark night. I also loved to wander in the woods for hours exploring the different types or trees and trying to find the source of the tiny little stream that ran through the woods and emptied into the lake.
